AGA CEC MARCH meeting minutes
President Suzanne Dahlstrom opened the March 18th meeting of the Chapter Executive Committee. Other CEC members present were Janice, Evans, Valerie Wedgeworth, Angie James, Cindy Weber, Cheryl Mather, and Barb Gordon.
The AGA National Awards Committee is now accepting nominations for the Chapter Service award among many other awards. This award will be presented during AGA’s Professional Development Conference & Exposition in Atlanta, GA to be held July 27-30, 2008. All nominations are due no later than Friday, April 4, 2008. Valerie Wedgeworth and Suzanne Dahlstrom will work on nominations to be submitted by our chapter.
Suzanne asked for volunteers to assist with the March 26th audio conference on FASB/GASB Update which will be held in the Grimes 2nd floor ICN room. Cindy and Suzanne both mentioned that they would be there to help call in and assist with the power point presentation.
We were able to use another $60 of the $250 Chapter Recruitment Scholarship that we received from National when 3 of the 5 non-member individuals used their free audio conference registration that they were awarded at the December Seminar. This leaves $30 remaining from the $250. Suzanne will notify and remind the other 2 non-members that they may use their free audio conference registration at the March 26th audio. If they are unable to attend, we will randomly draw 2 non-members names at the conference to receive free registration and return their checks to them that day.
We will be continuing our Foodbank Drive at the April chapter meeting. We were able to collect $120 in donations at the March meeting which will be matched up to $100 by our chapter.
Congratulations to Michael Stevens! This year’s scholarship recipient will be attending our April meeting and will be receiving his $500 scholarship.
Suzanne mentioned that the regional conference call is scheduled for tomorrow, March 29th at 2:00. She plans to attend. She also mentioned that she will plan to invite Walt Darling, our current Mid-Western Region AGA RVP to our spring ethics seminar. Stan Kuhn plans to present 4 hours of CPE in conjunction with the AGA Audio Conference on Ethics on May 14th. Stay tuned for more registration details.
The slate of CEC officer positions has been completely filled and will be presented to membership at the upcoming meeting.
Due to the overwhelming success at past conferences, AGA is once again pleased to offer the chapter hotel scholarship for the 2008 PDC in Atlanta, GA. The scholarship will cover room and tax for two individuals from each AGA chapter for up to five nights at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. This will be made available to the current President-Elect Valerie Wedgeworth and possibly the incoming President-Elect.
Suzanne also mentioned that the SLM is set to be held May 2nd and 3rd in New Orleans. The positions that have been invited include President Elect, President Elect Designee, Chapter Membership, Early Careers, CGFM Chair, and Chapter Education. Those who hold these positions who are interested in attending will need to get registered soon.
Newsletter items are due no later than March 21st. Dorothy Stover will prepare the newsletter this month.
